Nanomedicine is an emerging field that is now gaining wider attention owing to first products on the market and a variety of studies conducted over the past couple of years.
Nanomedicine has widely been associated with revolutionary new applications. However, as this report shows, nanomedicine as currently pursued by the scientific community uses nanotechnology as an enabling technology playing an important part in the medical innovation process, but there are currently only few examples for innovations with breakthrough potential.
